From May 1st, the four major sea areas along the coast of the country have entered the fishing moratorium during the low season. Will the people in Wuhan who love seafood be affected? In the past few days, Jimu News reporters visited and learned that the prices of many fresh seafood in markets at all levels have risen slightly, but the supply of frozen seafood is sufficient, and it is more cost-effective for citizens to eat.

Fresh goods rose slightly after the coastal fishing ban

Recently, the reporter came to a seafood wholesale market in Wuchang, and found that many shops have fresh seafood for sale, but the number is not large, and vendors are calling on market visitors to choose live seafood from time to time.

"There are fewer fresh and wild seafood that can be sold, and they are all in stock at the end of April." A seafood business owner said that after May, the seafood fishing ban in coastal areas will be banned, and wild seafood of all kinds of fish and shrimp will not be available. There are new goods: "After the coastal fishing ban starts, there will be no fresh goods."

The reporter learned that the price of live seafood sold at present has increased compared with that in April. According to different categories, the price has increased by 3 yuan to 5 yuan per catty. Just go anywhere.

Although the price has risen slightly, catering merchants and consumers in the market all said, "It is acceptable to raise the price a little bit." A restaurant buyer said that wild seafood is just to "support the appearance" and increase the price. Acceptable, the store mainly sells farmed seafood.

Frozen seafood supply is sufficient and cost-effective

The supply shortage of wild seafood due to the arrival of the fishing ban does not seem to affect the supply of consumer terminals. The reporter visited and found that there are still many small seafood categories that can be bought in retail markets such as supermarkets and bazaars, but the prices have risen slightly, and businesses are selling more frozen seafood.

Yesterday, in a supermarket on Xudong Street in Wuchang, the reporter saw the products on sale in the seafood area including scallops, clams, abalone, and razor clams. Among them, the medium-sized abalone is 8.9 yuan per piece, which is 3 yuan more expensive than the price after the Spring Festival; the clams are 21.8 yuan per catty, the razor clams are 27.5 yuan per catty, and the sixties are 8.5 yuan per catty. According to the shopping guide, the unit price of these home-made small seafood is 1-2 yuan more expensive than in mid-March.

Compared with fresh seafood, the price of frozen seafood in the market is more stable, and citizens are more "free" to buy. The reporter noticed that frozen yellow croaker, hairtail, scallop and other products in the supermarket are more than ten yuan per catty, which is about half cheaper than the same category of fresh fish.

Small seafood aquaculture large quantity, stable price

"For people in Wuhan, home-cooked seafood is one of the most consumed fresh products, but this type of seafood mainly relies on artificial cultivation, and the market will not be particularly affected by the fishing ban period." Wang Yong, a catering observer, said, The increasing demand for small seafood consumer markets has enabled the Wuhan market to have a relatively stable supply of goods and guaranteed terminal consumption.

Mr. Li, a seafood wholesaler, also introduced that the small seafood currently sold in wholesale markets, bazaars, supermarket chains and other channels is basically "big circulation", and the source of the goods is mainly artificially cultured seafood in shallow seas. Skilled, the production frequency and quantity are more stable, and the market price will not fluctuate greatly within a certain period of time.

In addition, industry insiders said that frozen products, aquaculture seafood and aquatic products will become the main supplies in the market during the fishing ban period, and the reserves and supply of these seafood are relatively guaranteed. Coupled with the continuous supply of seasonal freshwater agricultural products such as crayfish to the market, it can form a price check and balance on small seafood, and citizens will not spend too much money on seafood in the near future.
